Supercharged Hormone DietThe diet plan was designed to help balance hormones levels in body to improve metabolic function, foster weight loss, and improve sleeping cycles. Sleep may not sound like an important part of a diet, but studies have shown that poor sleep hygiene is linked to hormonal imbalances that can cause insulin resistance, weight gain, and type 2 diabetes.

The Hormone Diet was created by Natasha Turner, who calls her program a “Glyci-Med” food plan. The three steps in this program to lose weight, and get stronger are:

  1. Renew and revitalize
  2. Balance your hormones
  3. Restore strength, and balance.

The plan takes six weeks to complete and you get to eat every 3-4 hours to keep your metabolism cranked. You get two cheat meals each week, but must make healthy food choices at least eighty percent of the time.

You will be required to give up caffeine, alcohol, dairy products, gluten, sugar, and most types of oils for the first two weeks. That is a lot of changes for many people so be sure to research each phase before you start to make sure you can adhere to each step.

To make sure the diet is working Turner recommends some pricey tests:

  • pH strips, which you will use to monitor your body’s pH balance, and
  • A series of lab tests including blood, urine, and/or saliva tests to check your hormone levels

You will also need to take certain supplements which can also add to the cost of following the plan, but if it does what it says, it might be worth discussing it with your doctor.
