- 8.7 out of every 100 adults in West Virginia has diabetes, ranking it 3rd highest in the nation for the ratio of people with diabetes to the general population.
- 39.3 out of every adult 100,000 deaths in West Virginia are due to diabetes, ranking WV as the second highest state for diabetes-related deaths in the U.S.
- In 2005, 152,000 West Virginia adults were diagnosed with diabetes and by 2007 11% of the total adult population had been diagnosed with diabetes, and another 2% had been diagnosed with pre-diabetes.
